CARTE DES COURONES DU NORD 1706
This is the northern part of the two-piece map of Scandinavia by De L’Isle.
Guillaume De L’Isle (1675-1726) was a French geographer and cartographer. He became acquainted with knowledge and skills of the astronomers of France and adapted their doctrines for his drawing of maps. L’Isle was thoroughly devoted to his work and detailed his maps according to new measurements and information.
The two-piece map of Scandinavia is remarkable in respect to its clarity, elegance and manner of representation. In 1718 L’Isle was appointed "the first geographer of the King of France".
