Shooting rapids and rural idyll
he journey
becomes more and more difficult. The rapids shooters are changed in Kolari
and this time they are the best possible ones. One of them is called Simo
whom Acerbi in turn names the Bonaparte of the Rapids. Simo is most obviously
a relative, even a brother of Kristina, the Amazon beauty. The family
owns the island Kolarinsaari. They also entertain the travellers well
and even treat them to a sauna bath with beautiful Kristina as a bather.
At the mouth of the river Parkajoki globetrotter Acerbi encounters an
idyllic scenery. He meets a community of Finnish settlers whose poor,
simple and secluded life brings Acerbi to a voluble praise of the rural
idyll.
At the mouth of the Parkajoki river a long chain of rapids begins and
it ends in the tremendous Äijäkoski rapids at the town centre
of Muonio. A shift from the wilderness idyll to the unpredictable white
waters of the wild north takes place.
