All the aiming devices of the southern fells, the belfry of the Tornio
Church, the Aavasaksa fell, the sign of the base line at Luppiovaara
and the Horilankero fell were visible from this fell. The device was
put up by Maupertuis and Camus.
Huitaperi - 10th July 1736
After taking repose, and eating some milk, at Cainunkyla, we left it
at ten o'clock. We proceeded in the boat a league farther ; after which
we left the river to cross the woods and rocks between it and the summit
of Cuitaperi, which we did not reach
until Sunday morning, the fifteenth, at three o'clock. (Outhier, Journal
of a voyage to the north 1736-1737, p. 280)
