Arktikum
Arktikum is a museum and science centre situated on the brink of the Ounasjoki River. The building was opened in 1992, and both the Provincial Museum of Lapland and the Arctic Centre function there. The most obvious feature in the architecture of the edifice is a 172 metre-long glass tube which composes the visible above-ground section of Arktikum House.
The Science Centre presents arctic nature and the research being carried out on the same, the museum the culture of Lapland and Peräpohjola. There is a library as well as working facilities for researchers in the centre.
